Useful information to know before thinking about it

Hair transplantation is now a solution that can be adopted by people who suffer from baldness. This intervention has proven itself, and provides lasting results in this type of situation. Hair transplantation (which is its other name) allows these people to have full and natural hair. Before considering hair transplantation, it is important to know a few things about it. What is it about?

What are the risks and success rates?

During the hair transplantation in Paris, note that there are no major risks. The best chances of success are observed in people whose blood circulation to the scalp is in good condition. Otherwise, it will be up to the practitioner to make the intervention as possible. This consists in using the appropriate equipment, so that a good result is obtained in the end. This topic also encourages interest in the success rate of hair transplantation.

Note that it varies from person to person. In 98% of cases, we observe regrowth of hair from transplantation. Chances of rejection are nil, because transplantation takes place with the patient’s hair. In order to notice normal regrowth, it takes an average of 8-12 months.

Hair transplantation and pain: a state of play

Contrary to what one might think, hair transplantation is not painful. Local anesthesia is done so that the patient does not feel pain. However, the patient may notice rather slight narrowing. Swelling in the forehead may be observed during the following days. The area where the hair was taken may become covered with a small crust.

However, they disappear after about ten days at most. So the patient can return to his professional activities the next day after hair transplantation.

Hair transplant alternatives

With regard to hair transplantation, there is a choice between two types of hair transplant operations, namely:

  • FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant): This is the main method used in hair transplantation. The practitioner takes a strip of scalp one centimeter high and about twenty centimeters wide. The place of the sample is the nape of the neck, because the hair resistance is better there. The sample is then divided into classes of 1 to 4 hairs, to be re-implanted separately in the bald part.
  • FUE (Folliular Unit Extraction): This method is used in cases of moderate baldness. The follicles are taken from the back of the patient’s skull, to be re-implanted in the balding areas. The tool used is a surgical drill with a diameter of one millimeter. Shaving the areas where the sample is taken is required. FUE is not recommended for women.

Intervention duration

FUT takes between 2 and 3 hours to complete. This time is necessary to proceed to the extraction of 1,200 or even 1,500 implants. The bald spots will then be re-implanted. Regarding the FUE, the intervention lasts between 5 and 10 hours. The duration is longer, because it is necessary to replant one hair after another. Of course, this time can affect the quality of the work performed by the practitioner.

Eye fatigue may occur, which increases the risk of developing necrosis of the follicle. For all these reasons, FUE is only recommended for people whose baldness has not progressed.
