They had been trying to have a baby for years. But after several consecutive miscarriages, and a lot of tears and suffering, the American couple decided to call in a surrogate. For them, this is the only way to be sure that they have a biological child. But realizing that wasn’t the case at birth, they decided to give up the baby, as the guy on Reddit explained, in a post spotted by Cafemom.
“As soon as I saw the baby, I knew something was wrong”
On the day of the birth, the couple was very excited and impatient to meet their baby. Pregnancy went well, and future parents built a trusting relationship with their surrogate mother. “The surrogate was a nice woman who took care of her body and we got along well with her,” Dad explains. But when the baby is discoveredI knew something was wrong.” according to him, The boy had Asian features, black hair and brown eyesWhile he and his wife are both “White, blond and blue-eyed.” Then the couple decides to take a DNA test, which reveals that the man is not the biological father of the child.
After investigation, it was established that the surrogacy agency and the sperm bank had made a mistake at the time of in vitro fertilization. “We don’t care about race, We’re just upset that the baby isn’t our babyIf it was white and not me, we’d be totally pissed. The surrogate was also heartbroken when we told her what had happened, but we couldn’t keep the baby because she already had five children.” Father explains.
An unfair decision for a child
If netizens hear about widespread disappointment and anger, it is the parents’ decision that is widely criticized. In fact, the father makes it clear that he wants to adopt the newborn who is not his (but is nonetheless from his wife). “I know it’s asking a lot, but can’t you really find a place in your heart for this kid? He blessed you and your wife anyway and needs to be loved like everyone else. Any other kid.”, the user explains. “The child is biologically related to your spouse. If you use biology to justify that you are morally allowed to abandon a child, a woman would abandon her child in such an unethical way that you would not even consider him your son.” Another argue.
It is not enough to change a man’s mind. The latter said that he and his wife, the child’s legal guardian, called the adoption agency to find him a loving home.
