Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who has been identified as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, is a US citizen and was a student at Ovaldi High School, without specifying if he graduated this year.
An anonymous shot spread in the local media shows a young man with shoulder-length brown hair, his face pale and expressionless. Mr. Abbott continued that prior to committing this murder, he would have shot his grandmother, asserting that he did not know the connections between the two incidents.
According to a local elected official, this woman was taken to a hospital in San Antonio. San Antonio University Health Hospital confirmed it had placed a 66-year-old woman in a “critical condition” after the shooting, without confirming her identity.
Then, equipped with a flak jacket and a shotgun, according to Sgt. Eric Estrada of the Texas Department of Security, he escaped in a car he left near Robb Elementary School after he had a “terrible accident.”
At about 11:30 a.m. (4:30 p.m. GMT), police found him, he rushed inside the school and opened fire in several classrooms, Sgt. Estrada told CNN.
For students, who are ten years old at most, and teachers of this school of 500 students, most of whom are Hispanic, the end of the year is set for Thursday.
The officer explained that no car chases were reported by local law enforcement, apparently indicating that the traffic accident was unprovoked. He was killed in a shootout with law enforcement authorities. Governor Abbott said two police officers were slightly injured.
According to Pete Arredondo, the Ovaldi School District Police Chief in charge of the investigation, he acted alone. Governor Abbott said investigators were trying to obtain “detailed information on the ‘young killer’ file, his motives, the type of weapons used and whether he had the legal authority to possess them.”
