Caffeine: Can It Cause Hair Loss?

The reason we like them is that they have a lot of caffeine. Who wouldn’t want to? There is a question, though: Can caffeine make your hair fall out? Most of us think caffeine isn’t good for us, but we keep drinking it even though we don’t know for sure that it’s not the best thing for us.

What will occur to your hair when you learn that caffeine can destroy your hair? Good news: You don’t need to stop drinking coffee or tea if you want to keep your hair. No proof drinking too much caffeine causes hair loss. On the other hand, coffee has a very different effect on the way your hair grows.

Caffeine and Your Hair: A Relationship

Research on how caffeine affects hair growth and hair loss is not well done. But the small and sweet information is that, as I said above, there isn’t enough proof to show that caffeine causes hair loss. Early research in the lab (in vitro) has shown a link between caffeine and the hormone testosterone and its derivatives, which cause hair loss.

In research, it’s said that caffeine can stop the production of specific proteins that are affected by testosterone. The result was that hair follicles grew faster as a result. There’s more evidence that some naturally caffeine-rich products, like green tea, may have the same effects, but it’s not clear whether the caffeine itself is responsible for green tea’s ability to stimulate hair growth. There is a lot of data that shows that drinking a lot of caffeine is suitable for your hair. There doesn’t appear to be any research linking caffeine to hair loss, but a few show that caffeine can help hair grow faster.

Can Caffeine Assist in Hair Growth?

So caffeine and hair: Isn’t that the best way to solve all of your hair loss problems? Not so quickly. A lot of people think studies are great. Can you drink a cup of green tea every hour and have a full head of hair in six months? The answer isn’t.

Green tea, for example, has been shown to have a lot of potential benefits for the health of your hair, but these studies are still very early in the field, and they don’t argue for a certain amount of caffeine or how it should be delivered.

That’s not all: The report says more research is needed to back up the study and determine how linked caffeine and water barrier functions. Because caffeine doesn’t have any proven effects on your hair, most people think it’s safe to purchase shampoo or other hair care products with caffeine in the ingredients list, even though there isn’t any proof. If you drink a lot of caffeine, it’s not clear if it will help your hair grow faster.

How to Treat Hair Loss: Treatment Alternatives

Hair loss can be scary, but there are some proven ways to stop that hair loss and encourage new growth. Finasteride is one of the FDA-approved treatments for hair loss. This drug has been shown to prevent the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) from causing the conditions of male pattern baldness, which can lead to hair loss. Taking finasteride daily can cut DHT levels by about 90% if you take it as directed.

Many people use minoxidil, which is also known as Rogaine®. This drug shortens your hair’s telogen phase, or resting phase, and makes your hair follicles enter the anagen growth phase, making them grow faster. Is there a prescription for it, or do I not need one?

There’s also some evidence that certain supplements and vitamins for a healthy head of hair may help your hair grow or keep it from falling out. Caffeine and Hair Growth

An important research area is how caffeine affects the hair growth cycle. A lot more work requirements to be done in this area. We don’t know how caffeine might affect hair loss yet, but research is just beginning to look into caffeine-based hair loss treatments. So, should you buy shampoos that have caffeine in them?
